SUMMARY

Independently interprets blueprints and engineering specifications to determine weld processes.  Lies out, fits, and welds aluminum, stainless, fabricated, cast, and forged components using a variety of welding machines to assemble product by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Follow necessary MGS and customer-specific procedures and work instructions.
• Read complex paperwork/drawings or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials and process for fabrication.
• Aids in planning layout, assembly, and welding
• Lies out, positions, aligns, and fits components together
• Bolt, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using, MIG or TIG welding and cutting (plasma and torch), equipment.
• Assembles parts by bolting and riveting, when necessary.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Modifies parts as needed to complete job.
• Safely operates forklift, tractors, or electric hoists to move product, when necessary.
• Inspects finished product to ensure conformance to engineering or work order specifications and tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.  Performs UL inspection procedures on UL certified tanks
• Produces leak-proof welds, as it applies to standard PSI pressure testing.
• Customizes fabrication of products without fixtures.
• Assists and provides input to engineering or R&D projects as needed.
• Follows safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance and housekeeping in weld area as necessary.
• Instructs others on job procedures, as needed.

Welder Fitter/Fabricator Production Requirements:

• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together while maintaining tight tolerances.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Set up equipment and weld parts, using, MIG welding and cutting (plasma and torch), equipment.
• Assemble parts by bolting and riveting, when necessary.
• Rework products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skill endorsements as needed to support production requirements
• Safely operate forklifts, tractors or electric hoists to move product, when necessary.

Welder Fitter/Fabricator General Requirements:

• Follow safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet schedule demands.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and training.  Basic mechanical, layout and advanced print reading abilities.  Fundamental knowledge and experience of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welding.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The work requires you to be able to follow verbal instructions as well as read and understand production documentation that details what needs to be completed on each part, the information is in English, so reading, understanding, and writing in English is a requirement in order to complete the tasks at hand.
