SUMMARY

Aids weld manager in directing and coordinating departmental workflow by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • After conferring with the manager, directs the team to stage and produce products with the greatest efficiency.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders for workers, and assigns duties.
  • Reviews and compares order sheets to work order prints to find discrepancies.  Confers with engineering on prints to work out issues.
  • Complies work order packets when job is complete.
  • Sets employees work schedules after conferring with manager.
  • Aids in the training of new employees.
  • Works with team to produce product.
  • Maintains knowledge about the products produced and the best methods to produce them.
  • Assists manager with the selection of new employees.
  • Supplies the supervisor with input for employee evaluations.
  • Ensures that workplace safety practices are monitored and followed.
  • Interprets, follows and ensures compliance for necessary departmental MGS procedures and work instructions.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Assists Manager in maintaining time records (job cards) and other production records.
  • Confers with other Team Leaders to coordinate activities of individuals within the department.
  • Accountable for supervision of company tools used in the department.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Weld Certification
  • Tow Motor License


EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and training.  Basic mechanical, layout and advanced print reading abilities.  Fundamental knowledge and experience of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welding.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software and Excel spreadsheet.
