FULL DESCRIPTION: 

Founded in 1969 in Fort Collins, CO, Maxey is a trusted manufacturer and distributor of trailers and related equipment for hauling everything from horses to race cars. We offer trailers from leading manufacturers including Big Tex, Aluma, Charmac, Circle J, Eby, Featherlite and Wells Cargo.

After working together for many years, MGS acquired Maxey Companies in 2014. Today the regional retail store is known as Maxey Trailer Sales and Truck fitting, a part of the MGS Trailer Products Division. We also manufacture turnkey trailers for any application and can order hard-to-find parts and accessories for your truck or trailer.


SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to manufacture of UFS product line and designated product development projects to ensure that the objectives of the project are accomplished on time and within budget. Communicates with project team, manufacturing cell leaders, management, and the customer throughout project life cycle. Performs the following duties to ensure consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Reviews quote file prior to sales order creation to ensure that all relevant documents exist as defined by sales folder requirements.
  • Ensures that all necessary design and fulfillment inputs have been included in the quote file.
  • Reviews special conditions for shipping and delivery.
  • Documents previously identified areas of risk for product development projects.
  • Determines that product description aligns with current requirements.
  • Checks for correct part entry in ERP system.
  • Negotiates with Engineering and Scheduling for completion estimate.
  • Creates Sales orders and notifies sales when order is complete.
  • Tracks order/project progress through engineering and manufacturing and report at weekly meetings.
  • Adjusts fulfillment dates on sales orders to align with schedule changes.
  • Assist with spec writing, product manual information, data sheet development and other documents as assigned.
  • Assist with quote compilation and development.
  • Assists in Final Inspection of Product
  • Assists in the determination of "Readiness to Ship."
  • Other duties as assigned by Division Manager


PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS:



  • Develops project proposal or plan including timeline, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and various phases of project.
  • Establishes plan and per project management procedures, work instructions and forms.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Communicates project status updates, responsibilities, requirement investigations, and resolves issues with division manager, customer, senior management, project team members and others as required.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Assist with spec writing, product manual information, data sheet development and other documents as assigned.
  • Assists with quote compilation and development.
  • Assists in Final Inspection of Product
  • Assists in the determination of "Readiness to Ship."
  • Other duties as assigned by Division Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & / OR EXPERIENCE

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and two plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, employees, customers and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software; ERP Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Project Management Experience

Metal Fabrication background and experience preferred.

General Mechanical experience preferred.


PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

Project documentation and analysis alignment with MGS established requirements.

Project management skills

Job packet/sales order information accuracy.

Knowledge of project/job status.

Provides timely production status updates to sales.

General organization of job folder contents both paper and electronic.

UFS QMS form auditing.

Operations manuals and parts manuals produced in a timely fashion.

Product configuration and functionally align with sales order requirements.

Customer required product fulfillment requirements have been met.
