FULL DESCRIPTION: 

Founded in 1969 in Fort Collins, CO, Maxey is a trusted manufacturer and distributor of trailers and related equipment for hauling everything from horses to race cars. We offer trailers from leading manufacturers including Big Tex, Aluma, Charmac, Circle J, Eby, Featherlite and Wells Cargo.

After working together for many years, MGS acquired Maxey Companies in 2014. Today the regional retail store is known as Maxey Trailer Sales and Truck fitting, a part of the MGS Trailer Products Division. We also manufacture turnkey trailers for any application and can order hard-to-find parts and accessories for your truck or trailer.


SUMMARY

Repairs and performs installation of truck bodies, truck equipment, DOT inspections of trailers, hitch and wiring for tow vehicles and trailers by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Understand and follows MGS Vision, Mission Statement and Goals.
  • Follows necessary MGS procedures and work instructions.
  • Installs truck bodies and truck equipment per manufacturer's instructions, MGS work instructions, and industry standard to comply with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
  • Examines trailer and discusses with Service Manager nature and extent of damage or malfunction.  Follows work procedure.
  • Performs DOT inspection and advises Service Manager of defects.
  • Installs accessories on tow vehicles and trailers, which includes, but is not limited to cargo securement, hitches, brake controllers, spare tires, lights, accessories, etc.
  • Repairs truck equipment and trailers as directed by Service Manager and work order instructions.
  • Refurbish trailers and directed.
  • Completes service work in a timely, correct, clean and customer-oriented manner.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance and housecleaning in service area.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & / OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma and 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively with employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CDL and Welding - Preferred

ASE Truck Equipment Tech - Preferred
