FULL DESCRIPTION: 

Founded in 1969 in Fort Collins, CO, Maxey is a trusted manufacturer and distributor of trailers and related equipment for hauling everything from horses to race cars. We offer trailers from leading manufacturers including Big Tex, Aluma, Charmac, Circle J, Eby, Featherlite and Wells Cargo.

After working together for many years, MGS acquired Maxey Companies in 2014. Today the regional retail store is known as Maxey Trailer Sales and Truck fitting, a part of the MGS Trailer Products Division. We also manufacture turnkey trailers for any application and can order hard-to-find parts and accessories for your truck or trailer.


SUMMARY

Manages sales, parts and service activities of Trailer Products division by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Understands and follows the MGS Vision, Mission Statement and Goals.
  • Directs staffing, training and performance evaluations to develop and control Trailer Products sales program.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to advise senior management on formulating policy in promoting Trailer products sales and service.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and develops sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.
  • Reviews customer input to advise senior management on product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line.
  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
  • Coordinates activities related to trade shows and advises Senior Management on alternative promotional activities.
  • Coordinates liaison between Trailer Products Sales and Service department and other sales related units.
  • Creates, analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Develops and maintains work schedule, including Saturday schedule.
  • Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications for Trailer Products Sales and Service division.
  • Prepares periodic reports showing sales volume and potential sales.
  • Drive trucks and tow trailers as needed to assist the Trailer Products Division.
  • Back up Trailer Products team members as needed.
  • Ensures division is providing superior customer service at all times.
  • Ensures that workplace safe practices are monitored and followed.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employee in the Trailer Product Division.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & / OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B, A) from four-year College or university; and 5 - 10 years related sales experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Five to seven years of supervisory experience.  Basic computer skills including electronic spreadsheets and word processing.  Ability to drive truck and tow trailers.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, employees and customers.  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to direct and work effectively with diverse personalities.  Participate management style and an advocate of team concept.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
