Weld Fitter/Fabricator
Individual will lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to produce products to complete specific military projects.


Weld Fitter/Fabricator DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


These functions constitute essential functions for the job position that the employee must be able to fulfill, with or without accommodation. The following list is not exhaustive. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned and are to be considered a required part of the job.


Welder Fitter/Fabricator Communication Requirements:

  • Follow necessary MGS and customer-specific procedures and work instructions.
  • Read complex paperwork/drawings or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials and process for fabrication.
  • Execute tasks and responsibilities as required by the Quality System
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and complete Quality and Process documentation


Welder Fitter/Fabricator Production Requirements:

  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together while maintaining tight tolerances.
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts, using, MIG welding and cutting (plasma and torch), equipment.
  • Assemble parts by bolting and riveting, when necessary.
  • Rework products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skill endorsements as needed to support production requirements
  • Safely operate forklifts, tractors or electric hoists to move product, when necessary.


Welder Fitter/Fabricator General Requirements:

  • Follow safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet schedule demands.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.


Welder Fitter/Fabricator Conduct Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. ITAR Compliance:

  • Access to our facility and therefore employment is restricted under the international Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/ or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the United States and properly licensed foreign persons.


Welder Fitter/Fabricator Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years MIG welding experience. Or…
  • 9+ years’ experience with GMAW welding process (MIG welding).
  • Experience welding various types and gauges of materials to tight tolerances while minimizing distortion.
  • Experience working in a tightly controlled production environment.


Endorsements – The work requires the employee to obtain and maintain several endorsements.


Language Skills - The work requires you to be able to follow verbal instructions as well as read and understand production documentation that details what needs to be completed on each part, the information is in English, so reading, understanding, and writing in English is a requirement in order to complete the tasks at hand.

The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, sit, climb, balance, lift, and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally maintain awkward positions for a portion of the work day. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing is an important part of working in the job environment safely. The employee must be able to hear instruction, warnings, buzzers and alarms.
