Quality Associate conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of manufacturing processes, inspects materials and products, such as sheet stock, trailer parts, or components, and finished goods for conformance to specifications.
Quality Associate Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Inspect Finished Goods / Final Inspections
- Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings
- Read and Interpret Job Traveler information
- Understand the application and use of the MGS Quality System
- Navigate and use the MGS ERP System
- Compare product with BOM, Engineering drawings, checklists and / or other acceptance formats to ensure product conformity.
- Verify dimensions and functions
- Other Inspections as required. Raw material, purchased components, sub-contracted items, etc.
- Participates in First Article Inspection process
- Reject nonconforming products
- Assist in the maintenance of Calibration activities
- Participate in the Corrective and Preventive Action (CPA) process.
- Assist in the development of new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
- Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities.
- Participate in the Internal Audit process and Manufacturing Process Audits.
- Perform related duties as directed by Supervisor.
Quality Associate Qualifications and Competencies:
- Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Quality Improvement Associate certification from a recognized accrediting body or two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Engineering Drawings and schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures and work instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.
- Mathematical and Measuring Skills
- Ability to use small hand tools and measuring devices such as, tape measure, micrometer, torque wrench. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar and other graphs.
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
