Summary:  Coordinates activities involved with the procurement of goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: including the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Interprets and follows the MGS Vision, Mission Statement, and Goals.
  • Follows necessary MGS procedures and work instructions.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product-for-service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Consult catalogs and interview suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
  • Researches and supplies information on new products or vendors as necessary.
  • Prepares and enters purchase orders or bid requests.
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance.
  • Complies necessary information for DEP reporting.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Confers with the Job Controller and expedites delivery of goods.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & / OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years of related purchasing experience. Basic computer skills; including word processing and electronic spreadsheets.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram form.
