FULL DESCRIPTION: 

SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in mixing paint, minor assembly, preparing surface of object to be painted, painting object, and drying or baking paint on object by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interprets and follows the MGS Vision, Mission Statement, and Goals.
  • Interprets, follows and ensures compliance for necessary departmental MGS procedures and work instructions.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies with workers.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Reviews performance and resolves personnel issues.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Ensures that workplace safe practices are monitored and followed.


DEPARTMENTAL

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Initiates or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials to meet production goals.
  • Confers with other Managers to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Maintains monthly paint inventory for reporting purposes.
  • Computes paint mixture formulas.
  • Inspects painted surfaces for paint coverage, flow of paint, and color quality.
  • Measures thickness and viscosity of paint applied to objects.


SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBLITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Paint Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year related experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to work in a team environment.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
