SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of MGS facilities. Directs and coordinates operational and maintenance activities of transportation equipment. The following duties are performed personally or through subordinate supervisors and employees.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and follows the MGS Vision, Mission Statement, and Goals.
  • Leadership skills including the ability to develop and inspire your employees, your coworkers, your peers, and associates.
  • Communication skills, verbal, nonverbal, written and presentation.
  • Works as a member of the Operations Management Team establishing goals for areas of responsibility working within the annual goal structure.
  • Reviews Maintenance Schedule and Facilities Project Matrix to determine work priorities.  Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Conducts quarterly evaluation of facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and professional operation and directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Develops preventative maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.  Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Prepares purchase orders for facility repair parts, certain manufacturing supplies and items needed to accomplish FTM Projects.
  • Coordinates outside services and contractor activities both onsite and at the contractor's place of business (ex. auto mechanics, woodworkers, special part manufacturers, etc.)
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design team.
  • Read and interpret technical, assembly and service manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, architectural drawings and plans.
  • In certain situations, interface with Regulatory Personnel, Municipality Reps and MGS Neighbors.
  • Directs training and assimilation of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures. Holds meetings with employees within areas of responsibility to effectively communicate company goals and strategies.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Coordinates operation and maintenance of all company vehicles.
  • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
  • Supervise the mowing of lawns, upkeep of bushes, trees, and mulched areas, and snow removal during the winter months.
  • Aligns area of responsibility with company quality management systems.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 4-6 employees in the facilities, transportation and maintenance departments.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B, A) from four-year College or university; and/or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have mechanical ability in the following areas: welding processes, machine shop training and be able to read and interpret measuring instruments; and e familiar with interference fitting of parts.  Must have basic understanding of construction, carpentry and building maintenance.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Power Point). Design Software, ERP Systems Software and be able to perform research through the internet.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
