FULL DESCRIPTION: 

MGS. Inc. has an immediate opening for a part-time CDL Class A Driver with flatbed experience. This position is a vital link between our shipping department and our customers to ensure correct and timely deliveries of fabricated products using company equipment from our plant located in Denver, PA. You will have dedicated routes, 2-3 days per week, Monday-Friday, hours start at 6:00 am to finish (approximately between 2:00 - 3:00 pm) that allow for a work/life balance.


SUMMARY

Drives tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver products by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follows necessary MGS procedures and work instructions.
  • Reads paperwork or follows oral instructions to ascertain products to be delivered and directions to delivery point.
  • Drives truck in a safe manner following all traffic, Federal Motor Carrier, and MGS/Maxey Transportation Safety regulations.
  • Inspects Truck, Trailer, and cargo securement for defects before, during and after trips.  Submits daily vehicle inspections indicating condition of equipment.  All reports to be submitted on approved forms.
  • Maintains driver log according to I.C.C regulations.
  • Assists workers in loading and unloading truck to assure safety and protection of equipment.
  • Secures load to meet cargo restraint requirements while not damaging the cargo being transported using chain binders, ratchets and straps.
  • Performs routine maintenance and housekeeping of tractor-trailer equipment.  Maintains it in a sanitary and organized manner.
  • Inspects all cargo securements, tarps, and related equipment and maintains the trailer toolboxes to be neat and organized.
  • Prepares trip route of travel to most efficient routing for distance and time.
  • Communicate effectively on a computer, tablets, or phone using e-mail as a method of communication.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related safe tractor-trailer driving experience and prior forklift experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Class A CDL and must pass all DOT physical requirements.  OSHA Forklift certification.
