Summary:  Assembles trailers or other products, partially or completely, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows necessary MGS procedures and work instructions.
  • Reads paperwork or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be used in assembling product
  • Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled, following blueprints and/or work order.
  • Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  • Modify parts as needed to complete assembly.
  • Safely operates forklift, tractors, or electric hoists to move product when necessary.
  • Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
  • follows safety guidelines and uses all required personal protective equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance and housekeeping in assembly area.
  • Instructs others on job procedures as needed.

EDUCATION & / OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and training.  basic mechanical and print reading ability.  Basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
